Can You Use First Person In An Abstract For Science Fair Projects

One of the requirements of entering a science fair is to complete a science fair project report. To be graded or scored well, the student needs to use the correct format, voice, tone and style, and they will need to include the right elements. Fortunately, all of these things are easy to accomplish once you know what is expected of you.

Writing Style

The first question that many students have that relate to writing a science fair project report is if it is okay to write in the first person. Students cannot write in the first person when writing a science fair project report. The entire report needs to be written in third person. This can be tricky as students are discussing what they did and what they discovered.

In addition to writing the report in third person, students will also want to avoid creative tones in their writing. While students are encouraged to use similes, metaphors and other creative expressions in English class, these are generally not appropriate in science writing. Students want to keep things as simple and straight forward as possible. The key is to explain the situation with as few words as possible.

Clarity

Clarity is one of the characteristics that judges will be looking for when scoring your science fair project. They are going to evaluate how easy your report was to understand, how logical it progressed from data to conclusions and how organized the overall report was. The design of your display board and you presentation will also be judged for clarity.

Formatting Your Report

Formatting is very important when you start science writing. To start with you will want to select a 12 point font that is easy to read, like Times New Roman or Courier. Next you will want to double space your report and create a one inch all around margin. Finally, you will want to add a header that includes your project title and a page number.

The format of your science fair project report will also need to follow a common layout. Most reports will have the following sections in this order: (1) title page, (2) abstract, (3) introduction, (4) background research, (5) methodology (experiment), (6) data and data analysis, (7) discussion and conclusions and (8) bibliography. Each of these sections will be broken down into sub-sections. For example, the methodology section will include subheadings of supplies and experiment design while the introduction will contain information about the hypothesis, the reason for selecting the topic that was selected and definitions of terms used in the report.

Why seek employment law advice for your small business

While it is perfectly normal for a business owner to want to focus on the most essential processes that contribute to the success and growth of its small business or startup, paying attention to the legal aspects of running a business is also very important. Statutory compliance, staff employment, terms of service and supplier contracts are the areas where professional legal advice services can help secure your business and save money in the long term.

According to a recent report published by the UK Legal Services Board, called In Need of Advice? and based on a YouGov survey of over 9000 British small businesses, 38% of surveyed small businesses experienced one or more legal problems in the past year, out of which employment law issues were second most common situations business owners had to face, right after issues concerning trading. While 45% of surveyed small business owners considered that legal problems have a tangible impact on their business operations and growth, in the majority of cases they dealt with problems entirely on their own (52%), with only 16% of legal problems being solved through professional legal services.

Prepare your small business for future employment law situations

As businesses grow, its almost inevitable that small business owners will have to deal with the occasional difficult employment scenario, the most common issues revolving around employee gross misconduct, unfair dismissal and redundancy. These employment issues can have a negative impact on the overall performance of the business and can quickly escalate and generate loss if the correct legal steps are not followed. This is why seeking employment law advice from the outset helps a small business be prepared to handle any employment situation correctly .

Employment law advice directly from the experts

It is good business practice to seek employment legal advice not only when employee grievances arise or legal action is required, but from the very beginning of your business setup.

Other than offering employment law advice and support in cases of gross misconduct, redundancy and dismissals, an employment law solicitor can play a preventive role, by helping small business owners set up the correct employment contracts, prepare employee handbooks and other essential employment procedures and keep the business up to date on employment legislation.

Affordable employment legal advice

There are many ways in which small businesses that cannot afford a dedicated HR and employment service can still benefit from expert employment legal advice. While engaging a high street employment firm of solicitors on matters requiring legal action in court can prove to be an expensive exercise, small business owners can seek employment law advice with local professional associations and groups, which offer a series of online legal advice resources that any small business can easily access. Another route to take is to engage independent accounting and tax consultants that often include employment solicitors and offer employment law advice and guidance on a retainer arrangement, which is usually the most cost-effective solution for small businesses.

Muay Thai Thailand’s Thrilling Sport

Borders demarcate the boundaries of a country but it is sports that define the spirit & soul of the nation.

What cricket is to India and soccer is to Spain, Muay Thai is to Thailand. Muay Thai literally means Thai Boxing and the Thais consider it to be their national treasure. This combat sport is often referred to as the art of eight weapons as it requires the combined use of elbows, knees, fists, shins and feet to engage in a contest that calls for the optimum use of ones physical and mental strength.

History
In the early days, Muay Thai was practised only on the battlefield. Soldiers and war heroes learnt and practised this weapon to fight against enemies of the state. In the late sixteenth century, the weapon began to gain prominence as a sport. King Naresuan (Ayutthaya period) practised this sport himself and was quite the champion of it. Muay Thai as a local/national sport further gained prominence in the eighteenth century during the reign of King Prachao Sua (Tiger King). Thailand was at peace during this era and the free soldiers practised this sport to become fit and pass time. The Tiger King himself fought in many Muay Thai matches and tournaments under disguise and won. As the popularity of Muay Thai grew it was even incorporated in the school curriculum!

Today
Muay Thai certainly isnt part of the school curriculum anymore (and rarely is a part of Thailand packages) but it very much is Thailands national sport. The excitement, frenzy and fanfare that Muay Thai games create are not matched by any other sport. The Lumpini Boxing Stadium and the Rachadamoen Boxing Stadium in Bangkok are venues to visit to witness all the Muay Thai craziness first hand. The adrenalin rush and raw excitement among the crowds will set your heart racing too.

Match Norms
Before every match, the fighters, wearing a headband and an armband, perform the Wai Kru dance to pay respect to the teachers and founders of the sport. The headband is called Mongkhol and is a sacred item that is blessed by a monk. After the dance and before the match begins, the trainer removes the Mongkhol and recites a prayer. The player wears the armband throughout the match as it is believed to offer protection and a hardcore fighting spirit.

The next time you visit Thailand, go for Bangkok packages or Phuket packages that offer you the chance to see a Muay Thai game live. I assure you it will be an experience you wont ever forget.

Global markets for Machine Vision (MV) technologies to grow to $23.5 billion in 2019

Machine Vision (MV) technology integrates imaging components and electronics into computerized analysis and control systems to identify, measure, sort and inspect components as they proceed through an automated process.

The advances in MV technology including smart cameras and vision-guided robotics have increased the scope of the MV market through wider applications in manufacturing and nonmanufacturing sectors. MV is now used to ensure the quality of products from tiny computer chips to massive space vehicles as well as in major security applications and traffic and crowd-control applications. Today, MV has become a vital and effective automation tool that enables computers to replace human vision in many high-speed and high-precision manufacturing and nonmanufacturing applications.

The MV industry is peculiar in nature as many of the components are manufactured in one location, assembled at another which may be in a different country, and finally assembled at another location in yet another country. For example, most of the cameras and optics needed for the MV industry are manufactured in Germany and Japan but are then exported to North America for conversion into an MV system. Finally, they may be sent to China or India for ultimate production.

According to BCC’s published report, Global Markets for Machine Vision Technologies, the global market for machine vision (MV) system components was nearly $13.5 billion in 2012, and is expected to grow to $15.2 billion in 2014. The market is expected to further increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9% the following five years starting from 2014 reaching nearly $23.5 billion in 2019.

This report looks at the application market for MV systems and the competition involved in this ever-expanding field. Pick Up The Phone To Increase Your Auto Repair Shop Profits

You may be surprised to learn just how much financial power rests in the hands of the person who answers the phone at your auto repair shop. As a shop owner, you put a lot of time into getting that phone to ring. The first phone call from a potential customer is your best chance to make a good impression. How is your business first represented to your potential patrons?

Customers needing auto repair have a sense of urgency when they make the call to your auto shop. Transportation is both a necessity and an investment; when they call your business for service, they want to know that their vehicles will be in capable hands. How is that first communicated to your potential clients? If your answering system involves an answering machine or an uninformed receptionist, you may be losing calls and clients by the day.

You may be the best shop with the most skilled mechanics in your local area, but if that is not communicated to your clients on the initial phone call, your business will suffer. The average auto repair ticket is approximately $300. If your phone answering system causes you to lose one call per day, and you are open 5 days per week, your business loses $1500 per week! This adds up to $78,000 annually!

Having a pre-determined script for any type of call that may come into your shop is an ideal way to assure that your receptionist handles inquires in a manner that will convert the call to sales, says Gerry Frank and Keith McCrone, co-owners of Automotive Profit Pro. When this is executed properly, 75% of calls can be converted into appointments.

Customers typically call auto shops for three main reasons:
1.They have a question or problem. This customer usually calls asking if you can fix their air conditioner or if you work on specific types of cars, such as, Do you work on Hondas? They want to know that you can confidently take care of whatever problem or vehicle that they may have.
2.Calling to schedule an appointment. This may be a current customer or a new prospect and they may be calling for either routine service or an emergency. It is important to determine all of the variables of the caller and help them accordingly.
3.To get an estimate. This person is usually labeled as the price shopper. Dont underestimate this caller; more often than not this customer is looking to establish a relationship with you and your auto repair shop.

Each of these phone calls is an opportunity to set an appointment and clinch the sale. Building a relationship with your potential clients as their auto care professional is established through their ability to trust you with their auto maintenance needs.

Is Bingo Gambling Or Just A Game Is It Wrong

Does bingo count as gambling, especially from a moral standpoint? Some people believe that gambling is wrong, but many people who believe that still play things like bingo and card games and don’t believe that it is wrong to do so.

So is playing bingo a form of gambling? Well, some would say that any game you play where the stakes including winning or losing money counts as gambling. These same people may believe that if you play such games (like poker) but don’t play for actual money that you are not gambling. More extreme conservative types, on the other hand would say that even playing bingo just for fun with no money at stake is still wrong.

Bingo is played in schools and at parties for fun (no money), and most people are accepting to this. But if you are unsure whether you feel comfortable gambling or playing games that are normally associated with gambling, what criteria do you use to decide whether to play or not.

The first thing to ask yourself is whether playing a game like poker or bingo is enjoyable to you. If you have tried and liked it, then obviously it is worthwhile for you to put some thought into the morality of it.

If you believe in the Holy Bible, you should try looking up gambling and see what it has to say. Then pray about it and follow your heart! Most believers would say it’s best to err on the side of caution, if anything. But some more liberal Christians would say that as long as your heart is in the right place, you should be able to live somewhat freely.

Whether it is bingo, poker, gambling in general, or anything else – this is a personal decision you have to make for yourself. Make your decisions based on your beliefs and your relationship with God!

Remember that it’s OK to have fun, but there is a multitude of things you can do to enjoy yourself! If you’re unsure about anything, refrain from it until you are sure or find an alternative! Who knows, the alternative could wind up being more fun, without any potential guilt!

The Strange Sports Scene

Despite the Rutgers bowl victory last night and the reigning-Super Bowl-champion Giants` spot at the top of the NFC East, New Jersey still isn`t quite recognized as a sports powerhouse. Princeton, even less so. (No offense, eggheads.)

But a look at the long list of sports figures who made their way to the Princeton Sports Symposium earlier this month tells a different story.

In addition to famous faces such as ESPN founder Bill Rasmussen and Sports Illustrated senior writer Tom Verducci, Princeton grads Mark Shapiro (`89), executive vice president and general manager of the Cleveland Indians, and Caroline Lind (`06), U.S. rower and Olympic gold medalist, were part of the series of discussions about sports media and management. Current student and gold-medalist speedskater Joey Cheek (`11) sat alongside Lind during a talk about the Olympic games.

In the midst of such a recession, the world of sports occupies a funny place in our lives. Sports should seem less important, but they also seem to be a needed escape. The economy may have taken down some mighty CEOs, but the top athletes are still making record-setting salary deals. (Detroit can`t catch a break in either the business world or sports world, it would seem.)

The odd circumstance is reflected in some of the quotes to come out of the Princeton event. Sports agent Ron Shapiro, founder of Shapiro Negotiations Institute, had this to say: Ive seen it all economically over the past 50 years, and I dont think Ive seen anything quite like this. The guys who bought naming rights to the big stadiums are trying to figure out if any people are going to be working at their companies next year.

Bill Susetka, chief marketing officer of the Ladies Professional Golf Association, posed the question, “How does a company sign an athlete for ten million dollars then ask the federal government for a bailout? It defies the PR and logic sense of whats going on in the world right now.

A lot of things are defying logic these days. But, to be honest, I`d rather be gushing about a David Tyree catch than a reckless CEO falling from grace (and wealth). And the newspaper`s sports section seems to be the only part capable of occasionally bringing a smile to my face. So maybe those millions are well spent. (Except for yours, Stephon Marbury.)

Here`s hoping for some economic stability in 2009… and for those real-life sports dramas and heart-pounding final-second shots to continue give us something to cheer (or cry) about that has nothing to do with putting food on the table or money in the bank.
